Mali with a difference
Mali is blessed by an extraordinary amount of beauty, wonders, talents and knowledge. Yet for now, it's landscapes, monuments, mosques and music bars are off-limits, sealed from tourists by a conflict that is threatening the culture of this remarkable country. Mali is a young republic but it is mainly a history country. Great empires and famous people followed each other in this part of West Africa. In the Kidal region, Neolithic remnants were found which testify traces of human presence in the 5th millennium B.C. It comprises 8 administrative regions: Kayes, Koulikoro, Sikasso, Ségou, Mopti, Timbuktu, Gao and a district: Bamako. Its relief is mainly constituted of plateaus and plains and Mount Hombori is the culminating point at 1155 m.
